OTL Invites San Diego’s Creative Industry to Ignite: The Art of Reinvention

SAN DIEGO, California, January 7, 2025—Outside The Lens (OTL) will unveil its new brand identity and welcome San Diego’s creative community at Ignite: The Art of Reinvention on January 30th from 5 to 7 PM at 125 14th Street, San Diego, CA. The event is more than just a milestone for a leading nonprofit that has served San Diego youth for over 20 years, it marks the beginning of a new chapter connecting San Diego’s creative professionals with the next generation of visual storytellers.

At Ignite: The Art of Reinvention, attendees will experience the premier of the bold new visual identity created for Outside The Lens in partnership with San Diego-based creative agency, Industry of Hues™ (IOH), IndustryofHues.com. Known for its fresh, dynamic take on national brands like Carnegie Learning and client collaborations with Nike, and local brands like the original Balboa Park Conservancy identity and TEDxSanDiego, IOH brings a youthful, daring energy to every project. 

During this special event highlighting OTL’s journey,  the creative partners invite guests to share stories of reinvention and renewal, and take part in hands-on activities designed to spark inspiration and self-discovery. The event will kick off with a brief panel discussion featuring Alexis Campanis and Jeff St. John from Industry of Hues™ and Carmen Prudencio from Pacific Arts Movement. While immersed in a dynamic lineup of experiences—photo booth, live tote bag screen printing, zine-workshop and more—guests will get a feel for OTL’s open-concept creative space and spark connections with fellow professionals. 

The rebrand process, including a new website by Noble Intent Studio to ensure ADA compliance and meet custom needs, was deeply informed by feedback sessions with teens in OTL programs. This collaborative effort reflects the organization’s commitment to centering youth voices. The rebrand is part of a larger strategy initiated by the organization’s Executive Director, Sarah Beckman, to align Outside The Lens with its new strategic plan, enhancing its role as a critical bridge between young creators and the region’s thriving creative economy.

She continues, “To nurture this creative ecosystem, we must embody the qualities that fuel it—innovation, agility, and belonging are at the heart of OTL. This rebrand signals our evolution as we accelerate our impact and serve as a catalyst for young creators ready to change the narrative.
