Ivy Gordon Receives Inaugural Focus Award for Community Leadership
It’s that time of year again when everyone at Outside the Lens (OTL) is busy prepping for our annual fundraiser, Shutter and Stout 2017! This year’s event will be held October 14th at Farmer and the Seahorse in La Jolla. As an additional feature of this year’s event, and for the first time ever, Outside the Lens will be awarding the Focus Award for Community Leadership to Ivy Gordon.
Ivy is a long-time supporter and Board Member of Outside The Lens, an active member of the San Diego community, and a photographer who has traveled all over the world capturing stunning portraiture. Work from her impressive collection will be featured alongside student work, demonstrating the phenomenal mentorship that OTL students experience.
“In my personal work, I’ve adopted National Geographic’s mission of visual storytelling: “to touch hearts, raise awareness of urgent issues and take people on journeys to places they will never go”, shares Ivy. “Although my reach isn’t as great, I hope to add my verse to the chorus of photographers who believe that images are a powerful force, not only for personal growth but for social change. Through my images and stories I feel like I am fulfilling my life’s purpose to “help people see a bigger picture”.
Don’t miss out on seeing Ivy’s work, and enjoying an evening of drinks, dining, and dancing at Shutter & Stout 2017. Limited seating still available for our VIP dinner and after party. Get your tickets here.
